Callion.
As much as Liek had come to resent the elder Saiyan he couldn’t help but hold a certain level of admiration for him, his skill was undeniable, his power leagues beyond what Liek had managed to achieve. The elder man’s form and precision where outstanding and beyond the boy’s level. And the techniques he’d demonstrated to the boy where also impressive in their own right. While the boy recalled very little about his fight with Callion after he’d snapped he did remember snippets of golden light. But that, which, based on his Grandmother’s testimony, he assumed was that so called ‘Super Saiyan,’ wasn’t what had made the largest impression on the boy so far, no the largest impression had been his telepathy tricks.
Communicating with people through their minds, telepathy, and the more advanced version where he projected a spiritual body that people could physically see. There was simply no denying how valuable that skill was, being able to communicate with allies over great distances without the threat of interception, as can happen with technology, or being overheard, as with spoken dialogue, was simply indispensable.
While the boy already knew that in theory it had only been further demonstrated during the gravity training with Opherla and ABAS when the bugman had used it to help the two coordinate their attempts to catch the wolfgirl together. Sure, their teamwork needed improving, and the differences in power at the time had not been of any help, but the communication had been invaluable.
What frustrated Liek was the idea of being reliant on others in general, not just Callion or ABAS, when it came to communicating in such a way. What if he was facing a foe that required communication and coordination, and the enemy was smart enough to listen to their foes when fighting them? Which was… well, most foes he may end up facing. If Callion or ABAS where not around he’d have to be nearly entirely reliant on luck, hoping the foe slipped up or didn’t take notice of any talking.
He couldn’t, wouldn’t stand for it. He didn’t care how much work he needed to put into it, he’d find a way to perform the technique himself.
That was why he was currently sitting with his legs crossed, leaning against the wall of Kame House. He’d discussed the nature of his training with Master Roshi earlier and the old man had agreed to help him figure the technique out. However, the ancient teacher didn’t actually know how to perform the technique himself so had at first taken a more advisory role, helping Liek come up with a plan to work on the technique before assuming a more passive role as test dummy, at least that’s what he told the boy. In reality the old master had every intention of trying to master the technique himself.
He may be an old dog, but he could still learn new tricks, darn it!
The goal of Liek’s training was the try and telepathically contact Master Roshi and communicate… well, anything really. Just establishing contact would be considered a success.
In the planning phase the two had brainstormed what they knew of how telepathy worked. Going over what it felt like to be communicated to through the technique, from Liek’s experience with ABAS and Callion, the way telepathy tweaked at his brain and senses. From Roshi came experience not only with Callion, mainly from his worldwide call to action against Arctic and the numerous times King Kai had contacted the people of Earth to relay messages from Goku and friends. Pooling these experiences the two came up with a game plan for the two of them to practice.
Sitting in silence, his mind focused on his singular goal, the boy probed and prodded, investigating and testing the bounds of his mind and the way ki flowed through it, seeking out the feeling he had gotten from receiving messages from both Callion and ABAS. Slowly but surely he felt like he was making progress, reaching out with his mind…
And then he touched… something. Something familiar. Instantly he realised what it was, this thing that was beyond sensing, yet could be felt. This thing that permeated every living thing in the area… No! Further then that! The entirety of the Earth and beyond! Flowing through every living thing without exception. A vital energy Liek was intimately familiar with.
This energy was Orgone in it’s most natural state, the power he tapped into and drew on for his Furiemshinken techniques. The boy’s heart filled with wonder; was this how the Fury had felt the Orgone? Was this how they had seen the world? And if he could tap into the Orgone Layer like this… could he apply it to his attempts to communicate telepathically? Use the Orgone Layer as a medium to transmit his messages?
If nothing else, it was certainly worth a try wasn’t it? So that’s exactly the route the boy attempted to take. Delving deeper into the forest green depths of the Orgone Layer, immersing himself in the very pulse of life that flowed through the Layer like currents of a river linking all things. Some currents stood out as brighter, and the closer he looked the more defined they became, eventually coalescing together into bright points. The youth realised the coalescences where living creatures, and the larger the concentration the larger life form. Looking around the boy realised he could combine this with his ability to sense ki and using both senses in tandem he reached through the Orgone flowing into Roshi to try and contact him…
The moment his mind made contact however, something entirely unexpected happened.
Suddenly the boy’s mental vision was engulfed by a single face. Ebony scales and crimson eyes, shifting and churning like molten magma, a great crest of horns atop it’s head and massive fangs within it’s magnificent maw. A great black dragon with the same flowing molten magma like light glowing beneath it’s scales looking the boy directly in the eye. It’s jaws opened and a single worded BOOMED into the mind of both Liek and Roshi.
“INHERITOR!!”
Simultaneously both Liek and Roshi snapped out of it and shrieked. Liek slammed against the side of the house as Roshi sent the couch tumbling over in his living room. Both where covered in a cold sweat as they both gasped for breath as they tried to process what had just happened. The elder man was the first to find his feet and rushed outside.
“LIEK?!” The shouted, “You ok, boy?”
Gasping on the ground Liek looked up and nodded, not yet finding words to speak.
“What in the world was that just now?” The old man wondered allowed.
“I… I don’t know…” Liek panted, “I don’t know...”
